Bsc in Economics and Bsc in Management
General Information
Programme outline: The undergraduate degrees in Economics and in Management are three-year programmes (180 ECTS credits). To complete the degree, students must be approved in the following extracurricular requirement:
- Spreadsheet and Word Processing: it is required to pass the Diagnosis Test of Católica Porto Business School or one of the short-term computer courses of Católica Porto Business School.
- English - Level B2: it is required to pass the Diagnosis Test of Católica Porto Business School, the Final Exit Test associated with the English Semester Course of Católica Porto Business School, or the crediting (official diploma level B2 [CEF] or recognized diploma [Cambridge FCE, Cambridge-Michigan ECCE and ECPE, TOEFL, IELTS, BULATS].
- Christianity, Cultures and Organizations: it is required the approval of the additional curricular unity from Católica Porto Business School.

Programme timetable: Presence is required in daytime and the standard teaching day runs from 8:30 to 19:00. Exceptionally, students may be required to attend classes until 20:30 and at times on Saturday mornings. Examinations are held from 8:30-19:00, Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings.
Language of instruction: the courses are taught in Portuguese and in English and can be taught exclusively in English when requested by student.
General Information - Merit Scholarships
We reward students who have a high level of academic achievement with merit scholarships.
TOP HONOURS SCHOLARHIPS (100%)
≥ 18 values:
Students admitted in the first year (1st stage) with an average of 18.00 or higher have a full scholarship for their first Undergraduate year.
≥ 17 values:
The students who move to the 2nd and 3rd year, and to the 4th and 5th year of the Double Degree in Law and Management, with an average of 17.00 or more in the previous year have a scholarship for the next year of the Undergraduate year.
HONOURS SCHOLARHIPS (80%, 50%, 20%)
Students admitted in the first year (1st stage) with average application between 17.99 - 16.00 are candidates for an Honours Scholarship, awarded by ranking. 30 Honours and Top Honours scholarship are awarded to new students *.
The students who move to the 2nd and 3rd years, as well as the students of the Double Degree in Law and Management who move to the 4th and 5th years, with an average between 16.99 - 15.00, are candidates for an Honour Scholarship. 40 Honours and Top Honours Scholarship are awarded to continuity students.
*Católica Porto Business School can exceed the number of scholarships in order to contemplate all new Top Honours students. This information does not excuse the consultation of the Regulation on merit scholarships.

Regular applicant
For students who have completed the secondary education diploma or a legally equivalent qualification and were approved in a final of Mathematics this year or in one of the previous 2 years.
1 Check if you are eligible
In order to apply, students must meet the following requirements:
a) to hold a Portuguese secondary education diploma OR a legally equivalent qualification (see the foreign diplomas accepted here)
b) to have taken the Portuguese national secondary education examinations (Mathematics A (19) in 2021, 2020 or 2019 and to have achieved in these examinations a mark equal to 95 points or higher (on a scale of 0 to 200 points) OR a foreign diploma Mathematics’ final examination considered equivalent. (see the foreign exams accepted here)
This regime does not apply to students with International Student Status (as defined in Decree-Law 36/2014 of 10th March and ruled by NR/R/0105/2019 of 7th March, which publishes the Implementing Regulation of the International Student Status of Universidade Católica Portuguesa).
Application score (for ranking purposes): 60% of the secondary education diploma’s grade + 40% of the final exam of Mathematics. Minimum total grade of 100.0 points (in a 0 to 200 grading scale). Applicants who apply for the Undergraduate Degree in Economics and the Undergraduate Degree in Management will be ranked jointly. The best applicants will be offered admission regardless of which Undergraduate Degree they have applied for.
FEG/CPBS reserves itself the right to set a minimum application grade higher than 100 points in each application call depending on the quality of the results achieved by applicants.

3 Gather the documents
To apply, students must present:
- Depending on whether they hold a Portuguese secondary education diploma (a) or an legally equivalent foreign diploma (b):
a) ENES Form (Exames Nacionais do Ensino Secundário) issued in 2021 – if not provided at the time of application, the original document must be presented on registration (see the foreign diplomas accepted here)
b) foreign secondary education diploma* + certificate attesting the score achieved in the Mathematics’ final examination considered equivalent* + certificate of equivalence to the Portuguese secondary education diploma (to be request in a portuguese secondary education school) (see the foreign diplomas accepted here)
- Form with information on personal data or copy of Identification Document
- Declaration of Eligibility
- Application form for special quota (if applicable)
- Special Education Needs Form (if applicable)
Students who have already attended a higher education course and wish to apply for equivalence of prior learning, are required to submit their transcripts with the subjects successfully completed in higher education (including marks and workload) as well as the subjects’ syllabus/content.
*Documents issued in foreign countries need to be certified by the Portuguese diplomatic representation (or consulate) in the country where the document is issued, or bear the Apostille stamp of the Hague Convention. When written in foreign languages other than Spanish, English or French these documents must be translated into Portuguese, according to the Portuguese notary laws. The original documents must be presented on registration (if not previously provided).
Applicants holding a secondary school diploma issued by a foreign education institution whose results are not available until after the end of the 1st and/or 2nd application calls are required to submit their school-leaving certificate and a declaration/certificate of equivalence to the Portuguese secondary education system no later than the 03rd September (applicants from the 1st call) and 09th October (applicants from the 2nd call). After the examination of the scores submitted, the results of the 1st and 2nd application calls will be republished until 07th September and 12th October, respectively. Thus:
- Applicants who have applied for admission in the 1st and 2nd application call and whose application score is equal or higher than the mark of the last applicant to have been admitted in the application period concerned will also be admitted;
- Applicants who have applied for the 1st call and whose application score is equal to 180,0 points or higher will be awarded a Católica Top Honours Scholarship;
- Depending on the number of scholarships that remain to be awarded after the 1st call, Católica Honours Scholarship may be awarded to applicants whose application score are between 179,9 and 160,0 points.

Only the applicants who have been admitted can proceed to step ❼ (Registration).
7 Enrollment
The registration process will be made online and the access to the platform will be provided to the admitted applicants after publication of the results. On this platform, it will be necessary to submit:
- Identification document and vaccination record booklet with up-to-date tetanus immunization
- Copy of the Vaccination card with the date of the last Tetanus immunization
- Information requested by the Portuguese Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education (RAIDES survey)
- Registration form and other specific documents to be indicated at the time of admission
- Proof of payment of the registration fee and first monthly tuition (see the "Fees and Tuitions” tab)
- 1 Passport photo
The originals of the qualification certificates must be presented on a date and time to be defined by the Academic Services.
The applicant’s withdrawal is assumed if the registration is not completed within the stipulated period.
The registration fee is not refundable under any circumstances.
Course/Institution Transfer
If your wish to change university and/or course and were already enrolled in a university in an academic year previous to the one you are applying to (it is not required to have completed any subjects), please see the following.
1 Check if you are eligible
In order to apply, students must cumulatively meet the following requirements:
- Having been registered in a different institution/course in a previous academic years but not having completed it. Students are not required to have successfully completed any of the subjects attended at their home education institution.
- Having taken a foreign diploma Mathematics’ final examination considered equivalent, in any previous academic year, and having achieved a mark equal to 95 points or higher on a scale of 0 to 200 (see the foreign diplomas accepted here)
Selection criteria: When the number of applicants exceeds the number of places available, applicants will be ranked according to the Final mark achieved at secondary school, the Mathematics’ final examination and the academic performance in higher education.

3 Gather the documents

Holders of a higher education diploma
For applicants who have already completed a Portuguese or foreign higher education degree and want to attend another degree.
1 Check if you are eligible
Students who cumulatively satisfy the legal conditions described below may apply under this regime:
- to hold a bachelor’s, undergraduate, master’s or doctoral degree, or equivalent
- to have taken a foreign diploma Mathematics’ final examination considered equivalent OR, in its place and in the following order, to have completed a Mathematics subject in a higher education institution that is deemed equivalent OR to have achieve a passing score in FEG/CPBS Mathematics test (date and time to be published).

Students over 23
For applicants who are at least 23 years old on the 31st of December of the year previous to the one they are applying to and do not have the qualifications required to access higher education under another regimen.

Students who satisfy the cumulatively legal conditions described below may apply under this regime:
- Being at least 23 years old on the 31st of December 2019
- not have the qualifications required to access higher education under another regimen
Applicants will have to take and be approved in a written examination to be taken at our University. The exam is based on the Mathematics A syllabus taught in the Portuguese secondary education system. Further information regarding the exam here.
Applicants who achieve a mark lower than 10 points (on a 0 to 20 scale) on the written text shall be eliminated. When approved, applicants will have to take an interview.
Ranking and selection for the Undergraduate Degree in Economics and the Undergraduate Degree in Management will be done jointly for both courses and will take into consideration the mark attained in the exam, as well as the applicant’s motivation (to be assessed during the interview) and Curriculum Vitae or resume.
